Corporate Controller

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to build, lead, and scale the accounting function for a growing small company. This role will be responsible for establishing financial controls, improving processes, and hiring and developing the accounting team, while also owning day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. This is a key leadership role that partners closely with executive leadership to support growth and ensure financial discipline.

ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION
This post holder reports directly to the President.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Own all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital

Controls & Process Development

• Design, document, and implement accounting policies and internal controls
• Improve and standardize month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting processes
• Identify risks and implement practical controls appropriate for a small- to mid-size company
• Support ERP implementations or upgrades as the company grows

Team Building & Leadership

• Hire, onboard, and develop accounting staff as the business scales
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and workflows within the finance team
• Provide hands-on coaching and performance management
• Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Strategic & Cross-Functional Support

• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Provide financial insights to support business decisions
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
• Support special projects, growth initiatives, and operational improvements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
• Experience with multicurrency reporting is a plus
• Experience building or improving accounting processes in a small or growing company
• Prior experience hiring and managing accounting staff
• Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on
• Experience working in ERP systems, preferred
